Program Description

The Ph. D. Program in International Relations provides a rigorous interdisciplinary approach to the study of global affairs. Students are expected to develop the substantive knowledge, theoretical perspectives and methodological skills necessary for conducting research and teaching in their field.It is a terminal degree program designed to prepare students for careers in higher education, government, media or as specialists in policy analysis. Students will benefit from the knowledge and expertise of a distinguished faculty who specialize in International Relations Theory, Turkish Foreign Policy, International Security, International Political Economy, the Middle East, European and Central Asian regions.

Two Letters of Reference

A Copy of the Master’s Thesis

Official Transcripts (M.A courses)

ALES 70 (ALES is required for all Turkish graduate applicants. ALES requirement is waived for applicants with GRE scores of a combined minimum verbal and quantitative total of 950 and 3,5 in analytical writing.)

TOEFL (213 CBT / 79 IBT / 550 PBT) or IELTS (6.5), KPDS (80), ÜDS (80)

GPA 3/ 4.00

Research Proposal (750-1000 words) It should include a brief literature review, research methods that will be employed and a preliminary bibliography.
