FB 619- The Theory and Policy of Banking Firm I

 

The main objective of this two term lecture is to encourage the PH.D. candidates to improve their research talents in the areas of both the theory and the policies of the banking firm. During the first term, the litarature in the area of the theory of the banking firm will be carefully studied. After that, during the second term, the policies of managing a bank efficiently will be derived mainly based on the studies done during the first term.

FB 613- Financial Management in Banking

 

This course concentrates on the principles of bank management of assets and liabilities. You will learn about the principles of bank balance sheet management and the management skills & techniques necessary for the sucessful management of prime in banking.

 

FB 630- Economic Policy and Economic Crises

 

The course will define the concept of Economic Policy and continue with the role of economic policy in the evolution process of economic thought. The course will cover the following concepts such as; objectives of economic policy, tools of economic policy, the definition of kinds of economic crises, economic crises in the World, analysis of the factors causing economic crises and their relationship with economic theory, differences between old and new economic crises, international financial system and economic crises, financial liberalization – deregulation, analysis of economic crises in Turkey and the analysis of the effects of economic crises in Turkey.

FB 611- Financial Institutions and Markets

The main objective of this one term lecture is to provide insight into the nature and operation of international financial institutions and markets, central banks, money market policies, primary and secondary markets, exchange market, derivatives, balance of payments.

FB 627- Econometric Model Building

The main objective of this course is to provide you with the necessary theoretical tools to do applied econometric research. The concept and types of modeling, model selection criteria ,Basic Econometric Assumptions, The Problem of Estimation, Dummy Variable Regression Models, Simultaneous-Equation Models, Time Series Models, Article Reviews

FB 629- The Operational Mechanism and the Regulatory Bodies in Financial Markets

This course is intended to be a bridge between the real life and academic backgrounds of students with respect to management of market risks and Treasury functions. The course covers treasury function with respect to interrelations with other departments, functions of profit driver organizations. Treasury controls with respect to credit lines and credit procedure as well as position limits & limits procedure are covered..

FB 626- The Theory of Investment and Finance

Investment and finance decisions are discussed in the framework of governance, strategic planning, methods and decision model as a corporate framework. Project evaluation methods, capital market relations, portfolio, new financial techniques, capital costs, capital structure, financial communication, profit distribution policies are the subjects that are involved in the course. The course will be done theoretical and practical and problems dealing with the subject will be solved.

FB 612- Financial Institutions and Legal Regulations

 

Introduction to financial regulation, theoretical framework of financial markets. Role and players of financial markets. Financial instruments types & forms, aspects of financing, negotiable and non-negotiable, financial risk management. Role of security provisions, charges, guarantees and their relationship to risk. This course familiarizes the students with the legal fremework within which the financial system operates. To provide understanding Financial Institutions and Markets.

FB 617- Economic Integration Theories and the EU

 

This course covers basic economic integration theories and European economic relationships. It also covers the economic integration concepts that are needed to in order to make sound economic decisions.

 

FB 624- Financial Economics

The financial market’s main factors, functions and classification will be emphasized, and then within the framework of Turkish Capital Markets Laws and Regulation, Capital Markets Activities, Institutions and Instruments will be explained. Furthermore, in this course, within the framework of Financial Economics Doctrine; main theory and methods of approach will be examined such as Fundamental Analysis, Technical Analysis, Modern Portfolio Theory, Capital Asset Pricing Model, Arbitrage Pricing Model, Efficient Markets Hypothesis, Asymmetric Information on Financial Markets and Behavioral Finance, related with the financial markets, financial assets evaluation and portfolio selection .

FB 616- The Theory and Policy of Banking Firm II

FB 614- Public Economics

 

The aim of this course is to give students an insight into the mechanism of public sector decision making process along with the governmental allocation intervention and fiscal institutions such as economic analysis of public expenditures, revenues and borrowings. Resource scarcity calling for governmental inter sector allocation; The theory of public goods and reasons for governmental intervention with specific reference to state economic enterprises; Public choice in a democracy; Economic analysis of public budgeting and fiscal principles to be applied to taxation.
