Aims and Goals of the Program

Our goal is to provide students with an integrated, interdisciplinary learning environment that brings together theoretical and practical work in Communication Studies with a focus on arts, cultural studies and social sciences. It is designed to familiarize students with the rapidly changing world of communication that demands incorporation of production and theory in arts and culture.

The program aims to train directors, writers, designers who can work in the diverse fields of cinema, advertising and public relations, researchers who desire to become academics, public relations experts who can develop communication strategies, directors and researchers who can work in non-governmental organizations, coordinators who are capable of organizing international festivals, exhibitions and other art events, editors and administrators who can work in media institutions active in visual, digital or printed media.

Who can apply?

The M.A. program in Communication Studies aims to provide students with an interdisciplinary environment, thus we accept students who come from diverse fields of Social Sciences and Communication Studies and/or who have background in Arts, Film and Management Studies. Therefore, we offer ample opportunities for the students who contemplate a change in their career or field of studies.

The structure of our program is intended for students who aim to work and/or do research in the fields of art and culture, as well as those who actively want to do planning, coordination, or production in these areas. The program can be completed with or without an M.A. thesis.

Application Requirements

• A minimum of 55 on ALES (Equal Weight or Verbal) (valid for 2 years)
• Undergraduate Diploma (minimum  2.5  GPA)
• Official transcript
• CV
• Two letters of reference from the undergraduate department of the candidate (please use the form here – http://)
• A minimum of the indicated points on any of the following English language exams: KPDS 50, ÜDS 50, TOEFL IBT 477/153/53, Kadir Has Profiency Exam 75 (all valid for 2 years)
• Communication Studies M.A. application form (please use the form here – http://)
• Documentation of residence
• A photocopy of ID
• 5 passport photos
• Documentation of military service (for male Turkish citizens)
